FISH ENHANCEMENT REPORT TO MEMBERS

The Seward Chamber of Commerce invests in local economic development through Fish Enhancement.  Funds are raised primarily through the Seward Silver Salmon Derby®, specifically the sale of sport-caught Coho under a special state permit.

Strong fisheries contribute to a diverse economy, and yet Seward, along with many other communities, are seeing climate changes, increased pressure on the resource, and rising costs associated with traditional hatchery programs.  This report summarizes the Chamber's efforts to date, as well as possible directions for the future.  The Chamber Board remains committed to investing in our community's economy through programs that strengthen our fishery resources.  You can download the report to members here.

SHIFT HAPPENS - CHAMBER EFFORTS VITAL TO ECONOMY

If you have six minutes to spare, you don't want to miss this presentation.  Get a fresh (and shocking) perspective on the U.S. economy.  Learn who our competition really is and understand that we all need to think differently about education, business, and globalization if we want to remain viable in tomorrow's economy.  It is a large file (6 MB, .wmv video format), so we recommend you save it to your own computer before viewing it.  Shift Happens is available here.
