Monday:
Startup Week Kick Off Social- Alaska Sea Life Center 5:30PM-7:30PM
To kick-off our Seward edition of Alaska Startup Week, we will be hosting a social mixer at the Alaska SeaLife Center bringing local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs together for a conversation around starting and owning businesses in Seward. Are you thinking about starting your own business? We will present on the basic issues faced when launching a business, including business licensing, legal forms of business, bookkeeping, hiring employees, business planning, financing your business, and local resources.
Tuesday:
Seward Chamber After 5 Event: "Financing for Small Business" - Gateway Hotel 5PM-7PM
For our Chamber After 5 event, the Seward Chamber of Commerce team will give a brief update on Chamber projects, membership benefits, upcoming events, and a re-cap of our summer season. Melissa Schutter from FNBA will present financing opportunities and lending requirements for local business owners. There is an opportunity to buy drinks at the Gateway Bar.

Ladies Who Launch: Seward Women in Business Social - The Flamingo Lounge 6PM-8PM
Hear from a panel of Seward area women in business share their stories of how they got started, hurdles they faced and lessons learned along the way. This event is open to ladies at all stages of owning a business. Whether you are dreaming, scheming, currently starting or already owning—we hope this event will connect you with valuable resources and inspire your next steps!
Thursday:
Creating Financial Projections for your Business Plan 1pm / Library or Zoom
Join us at the library or via Zoom on Thursday, November 17th at 1 pm.
This 1.5-hour workshop will teach you how to develop a financial plan using Alaska SBDC’s Financial Model tool in Excel. Don’t worry, no previous experience with Excel is necessary. The workshop will go over start-up budgets, fixed expenses, variable expenses, sales projections, and break even points.The results of this exercise will be ready to insert into the financial portion of your business plan. Seeking financing for your business idea? You have to know the numbers first!
