Maker’s Membership FAQ

Maker Membership is designed for Seward’s artists, crafters, musicians, and independent makers who create original goods.

This Chamber membership supports solo creatives who produce handmade or original work and want to connect with visitors, promote their work, and participate in Seward’s business community.

Who is eligible?

You may qualify if you:

• Are a solo maker, artist, or musician
• Create handmade, designed, or original goods
• Do not operate out of a physical location
• Hold a City of Seward Business License

Examples of eligible maker businesses include:

• Jewelry makers
• Artists and illustrators
• Woodworkers
• Handmade craft producers
• Musicians selling recordings or merchandise
• Small-batch food producers selling packaged goods they create

If your work is sold through another shop or gallery, you are still eligible.

Who may need a different Chamber membership?

The Maker’s Membership was created for solo creative businesses.

Businesses that primarily provide services or operate out of a physical location are typically better suited for the Chamber’s standard business membership.

Examples in this category include:

 • Food trucks or mobile food vendors
• Service-based businesses (massage therapy, guiding, instruction, etc.)
• Businesses with employees
• Businesses operating a storefront

If you are unsure which membership fits best, the Chamber team is happy to help.

Do I need to be a solo business owner?

Yes.

The Maker’s Membership is intended for independent makers working as solo business owners.

To qualify:

• You must be the sole owner/operator
• Your business cannot have employees

If your business grows to include employees, you may transition to a standard Chamber business membership.
