Utilities

The City of Seward provides public utilities including water, sewer, electricity, and waste removal to area residents. Some residents utilize private wells and/or septic systems. Heating fuel (oil or propane) is delivered by local providers as needed. Telecommunications support (land-line telephone, cellular service, internet) and cable television are also available.

Waste Management

Alaska Waste provides solid waste and recycling services to Alaska customers, as well as bear-awareness programs and services. They use the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) Solid Waste - Seward Transfer Facility located at 3200 Dimond Blvd, Seward, AK 99664 as their landfill site.

Household waste is deposited in the transfer building and transported to the Central Peninsula Landfill (CPL) in Soldotna. Wastes not transported are stockpiled in staging areas until they can be buried, burned, or hauled off-site. Materials restricted, or prohibited, at this landfill are hazardous, industrial, medical, and special wastes, such as asbestos, ash, fluorescent bulbs, and paint. Please separate your waste into these four categories before disposal: Construction/Demolition Debris, Metals, Wood/Land Clearing Debris, and Household/Mixed Solid Waste.
