Planning Tips & Ideas
Planning a wedding can be a daunting task, especially if you’ve decided to have Alaska as the backdrop for your nuptials. Luckily, Seward has everything you need for a successful wedding day. Here are some tips for planning the big day.
Pick your season
Seward is beautiful and inviting year-round, but the vibe of your wedding will be different depending on what date you choose. Winter will offer a lot of beautiful landscapes, unique opportunities for activities, and a wider availability of lodging and venues. Summer weddings will require booking further in advance because of the warmer weather and longer days.
Pick your venue
Whether you want to say “I Do” in front of a calving glacier or in a cozy downtown church, Seward has plenty of options for venues. Let us know your vision, and we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.
For an adventurous wedding, charter a helicopter out to Bear Glacier or a boat trip to Aialik Bay!
Check out the Seward Brewing Company downtown for a unique venue.
Spend the weekend at Miller’s Landing for a beach wedding.
Want to have your wedding pictures captured out on the beautiful Resurrection Bay? Consider booking the Fair Isle for a unique photography opportunity!
Pick your officiant (it can be anyone!)
You can be married by anyone with a marriage commissioner certificate, which is easy to obtain! So, you can ask a relative, friend, or even a pilot or captain.
