Fall In Love in the Fall!

The hustle and bustle of summer has settled and we have collectively taken an exhale and fallen into the steady rhythm of autumn here in Seward. Leaves have begun changing and falling, termination dust is bound to tickle the mountaintops at any moment, and baby pumpkins have found their way into Safeway.

With a slower pace of living this fall, it is an excellent time to plan a date with your significant other, a new romance, or just a friend! There are dozens of possibilities and most will agree that autumn has a certain romantic quality about it, so it isn’t too hard to lean in- even if you feel a little basic in the process!

Walking on Fall Leaves

Here are 5 Seward

Autumn Date Ideas:

  1. Go to The Cookery on September 27th for their Fall Fest event! Wear your best, coziest sweaters and enjoy delicious food, mulled wine, and an upscale date night atmosphere. Afterwards, take a late night stroll along the waterfront path and then cozy up for a Halloween movie to finish off the night.

  1. For those who enjoy having fun and getting silly with their partner, start off by going to Ukanuzit and Gypsea Treasure Trunk and pick out an outfit for each other to wear at the Yukon’s Tuesday night Open Mic. You can go for as ridiculous an outfit as possible or take it as an opportunity to dress your partner exactly how you want. The best part of Open Mic is that any talent is welcome there and it is very low pressure. You could come up with a duet, a coordinated dance routine, stand up comedy, whatever! This could be a power-move first date idea if you want a quick way to break the ice, too.

  1. Go to Primrose Provisions for their seasonal fall sandwich featuring 24 month prosciutto, maple bourbon apple butter, and fig balsamic reduction and wash it down with a glass of Vidigal Vinho Verde (a personal favorite). The vibes inside are immaculate and the view of Resurrection Bay is killer. Consider going on September 26th and heading over to Seward Alehouse afterwards for Free Music Friday with artist Kayti Heller.

Campfire Romance

  1. Go on a fall hike and get dazzled by the autumn colors while they are briefly here. Go on a hike a bit out of town like Carter Lake Trail or Primrose for a wider array of colors. Call up Seward Saunas for ultimate, date night luxury. You could even book a sauna session and surprise your partner with it! One option is having them deliver the trailer to Resurrection River for easy access to a cold plunge after sauna-ing. Stay out after dark and put out a picnic blanket and bring a thermos of cocoa and enjoy gorgeous milky way views on a clear night.

  1. For a morning date, go to Resurrect Art for a warm cinnamon roll and seasonal latte! Cozy up on the couch and relax together… or score the church tower room and play chess! After you’re finished, take a stroll down to Dreamland Books & Yarn. A couple ideas would be to pick out a book to read out loud together or choose a favorite book to have your date read and then get together again to share thoughts on the books. For craft curious individuals, choose some yarn or embroidery floss that matches the colors in their eye and make friendship bracelets to wear that remind you of each other.
