General Festival FAQ

Q: Where is the 4th of July Street Festival in Seward, AK located?

The festival is located on Adams Street between 3rd Avenue and 5th Avenue, the lot next to the Ranting Raven, and in the Seward Fire Dept lot on 4th Ave. 

Q: What are the festival hours for vendor businesses?

Thursday, July 2nd from 2:00pm-8:00pm

Friday, July 3rd from 10:00am-7:00pm

Saturday, July 4th from 9:00am-5:00pm

Q: Is there an entrance fee for the festival?

There is not! This is a completely free community celebration!

Q: How many vendors will be at the festival?

About 47 vendors in 2026!

Q: Are dogs allowed at the festival?

Dogs are not allowed at the festival. Thank you for your understanding!

Q: Will there be food available at the festival?

Yes! Several food trucks and vendors will be set up selling food each day of the festival. 

Additionally, community dining events include:

-BBQ Rib Feed at the American Legion Post #5 at 11:00am on July 4th

-Chicken BBQ Feed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00am on July 4th

-Annual Pie Sale at Seward Memorial Methodist Church on July 3rd from 6:00-7:00pm (pie only) and July 4th from 10:00am-2:00pm (pie and coffee).

Street Parade FAQ

Q: Where does the street parade take place, and at what time?

The street parade begins at 1:00pm and departs from the AVTEC 2nd Ave location. It follows the racer's route, turns onto Jefferson, and then turns right onto 4th avenue finishing in front of the AK SeaLife Center. Click on THIS LINK to sign up for the street parade!

 Q: If I have signed up and am participating in the street parade, where should I meet?

If you are participating in the street parade, please meet at AVTEC (2nd Ave location) at 12:00 PM.

Q: Who can participate in the Street Parade?

All are welcome to participate in the July 4th Street Parade! Community groups, businesses, nonprofits, classic cars and vehicles, performers, costumed families or groups, and creative parade entries are all welcome! "250th" themed decorations are encouraged!

Q: How can I volunteer for the Street Parade?

Get a front row seat to the parade by helping out with crowd safety by helping to ensure kids and adults stay back to leave room for vehicles and floats. Click here to join the volunteer email list!

Q: What is the purpose of the Sensory-Friendly Area in the parade?

The Chamber has designated a Sensory-Friendly Area on 2nd Ave between A St. and Monroe St. This area is created to provide an inclusive environment for children and families with autism and other sensory disorders. The entertainment in this section will be altered to accommodate their needs.

 

Fireworks FAQ

Q: When will the fireworks show occur?

The fireworks show will take place at 12:01 AM on July 4th (since the sun does not set until very late!).

Q: Where can I see the firework display?

There are several places in town to get good views of the firework display, but many people watch the fireworks in the Seward harbor or at the Seward Waterfront Park. 

 

Games FAQ

Q. Where will the games take place?

Games will take place in the lot of the Teen Rec Room behind the Senior Center at 336 3rd Ave. The Drag Race and Slow Bike Race will take place on Church street (next to Resurrect Art Coffee House).

Additional "Firefighter" games will take place at the Seward Fire Station on 4th Ave on July 3rd & 4th from 10:00am-5:00pm and at Miller's Landing on Lowell Point beginning at 5:00pm on July 3rd.

Q: What is the schedule for the games?

Games will take place from 10:00am to 8:00pm on July 3rd.

Getting Around FAQ

Q: Is there parking available near the festival grounds?

Street parking is available but very limited. You can take the Seward Free Shuttle from your location to downtown. Here is their route. 

Please note the Road Closures: 

July 2nd: Adams Street from 3rd Ave. to 5th Ave. closed at 4:00am until 10:00pm July 4th

July 3rd: 4th Ave. will be closed at 2:00pm and will reopen at 7:00pm on July 4th

 

Mount Marathon FAQ

Q: When does the Mount Marathon Race take place?

The race takes place on July 4th starting off first with the Junior Race at 9:00am. Men’s race start begins at 11:05am with the first wave and Women’s at 2:05pm with their first wave.
