Romantic Getaway

Bring your sweetheart to Seward for a quiet, romantic weekend - recharge your relationship as you relax amongst the mountains, or find a renewed sense of adventure off-grid.

Seward is for sweethearts.

Start your romantic weekend with a trip on the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward. Hop on board the Coastal Classic Train and wind along the Turnagain Arm through the wilderness of the Kenai Peninsula. Enjoy an early morning cup of coffee while you spot glaciers, waterfalls, and wildlife from your train car. You'll arrive right in Seward's harbor district, within easy walking distance of many hotels and just a mile from our downtown.

Spend your afternoon exploring the harbor, looking for and emulating our local sea otters as they float on by holding hands. (Sea otters will hold hands to stop themselves from drifting away from their group while they sleep).

Have a quick lunch at one of several restaurants with a harbor view, maybe you'll spot some bald eagles or sea lions eating their own lunch!

Then, head down to the docks to greet your water taxi for a romantic few nights spent off-grid at one of Seward's remote, wilderness lodges. These all encompassing lodgings provide everything you need to disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other. No cell phone service? No problem. Instead, enjoy an afternoon of paddling in Alaska's waters or exploring the more remote parts of Seward's nearby wilderness. After a day of adventure, spend the evening cooking a meal under the midnight sun.

Finish up your relaxing stay at a wilderness lodge with a cup of fresh brewed coffee in the morning before returning to Seward and heading downtown for shopping. Pop into any of the local gift shops and galleries for locally created and crafted art and jewelry and bring home a piece of Seward. Head to any of the delicious dining choices downtown and enjoy an early dinner before hopping back aboard the train and riding the Coastal Classic up to Anchorage, or beyond!
