Seward is magic all throughout the year and there is no shortage of fun things to do in Seward with your kids whenever you visit!
In the morning, head over to Resurrect Art Coffee House for a delicious pastry and warm beverage and then walk down to Main Street (Fourth Ave.) and peruse the various local shops filled with Alaskan-made goods and gifts. Be sure to stop into Dreamland Books & Yarn and take a look at their children’s section full of new and used favorites.
Is it a rainy day or are you just looking for some structured playtime indoors? Look no further than the Seward Children’s Museum! Their interactive exhibits inspire creativity and learning opportunities including pneumatic tubes, STEM activities, touch tanks, and a climbing wall; suitable for young toddlers and children up to around age 10.
After the kiddos get all their energy out, drive down to Lowell Point and grab lunch at Miller’s Landing Cafe- a relaxed seaside restaurant and coffee shop operated alongside a family owned fishing, camping, and kayaking company. Walk along the beach and explore the tide pools and comb the beach for shells and seaglass.
When you make it back into town, check out the expansive, wooden playground on the waterfront found along Ballaine Blvd. Hop onto a swing and fly up in the air with a view of Mount Alice and the abundant ocean life swimming within the Bay. The paved waterfront path located just in front of the park is a leisurely stroll that takes you from the SeaLife Center to the Harbor area- just long enough to take in the views and stretch the legs without being too strenuous.
For dinner, stop by the Breeze for a delicious burger and fries in a family friendly atmosphere. If the sun is still up after dinner, walk along the boardwalk and take in all the different boats parked in the small boat harbor. Swing by Harbor Street Creamery just across the street to finish the day off with a sweet treat!
There is plenty to do in Seward whether you are here for a day or much more. Hopefully this gives you some ideas for how to spend a day in Seward with kids and make the most of your time here.
