In a town where change is constant, Seward Alehouse is always one step ahead—paving the way with progressive ideas and making sure everyone, from regulars to first-time visitors, are welcome.

Seward is a town where change is constant, especially for year-round businesses operating in a seasonal economy. It requires creativity, innovation, and flexibility to succeed in this environment. The Seward Alehouse has mastered the art of pivoting, embracing challenges, and staying true to its mission, all while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors.

Seward AleHouse ownersWhen Liz and Sol first opened the Seward Alehouse in 2007, they were focused on one thing: making everyone feel welcome.

Whether you’re a year-rounder or passing through, the Alehouse is a place where anyone can join the party.

Liz believes the best way to get to know a community is by pulling up a stool at the neighborhood bar and they’ve stayed true to that philosophy from the start.

“There’s a responsibility that comes with running a bar, especially when it comes to alcohol,” says Liz and Seward Alehouse has made it a priority to create a safe, fun, and respectful environment. It’s not the rowdy, Wild West of the past – it’s a place where the vibe is chill, and everyone can have a good time responsibly.

Seward has evolved over the years and so has the Alehouse. When it first opened, the town had a more commercial fishing culture. But as Seward changed, the Alehouse adapted to a new demographic: one that cares to drink and serve responsibly. There’s been a cultural shift – from the rager crowd at 2 a.m. to the steady flow of responsible patrons enjoying tacos from the Lone Chicharron Taqueria window inside the bar.

In fact, the Seward Alehouse was the first non-smoking bar in town, setting the trend for others to follow. That progressive stance on health and community well-being was met with some resistance, but it eventually became the norm.

Seward AlehouseRunning a bar in Seward isn’t without its challenges. Operating year round means the local dollar goes further here. One of the biggest hurdles is staffing, especially during peak seasons.

The Alehouse has made it a priority to provide local staff with housing when needed, “If you need staff, you need housing,” Liz says.

The Seward Alehouse is open year round, 7 days/week, and open at noon. They also give back to the community.

They sell Seward Seahawks Booster Club pull-tabs, ensuring that funds raised stay local and help the kids.

Thanks to local support, the athletes are now generating income that benefits them directly.

The AlehouSeward AleHousese regularly hosts bingo, DJ nights, drag shows, and other events that bring people together, further cementing their place as a community hub.

Liz’s favorite drink? The Spicy Margarita. But if you’re in town during the Mermaid Festival, don’t miss out on the Mermaid Water – a blue cocktail with deliciously secret ingredients.

Seward Alehouse isn’t just a bar. It’s a place of community, camaraderie, and connection. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick drink or staying for a night of bingo, you’ll find that Seward Alehouse has created a space where everyone feels like they belong.

Cheers to the Alehouse for keeping Seward welcoming, progressive, and a place of fun for all!

We’d like to thank the Seward Alehouse for their many years of Chamber Membership. Thank you for your support!
