The Tonsina Trail is one of Seward's most popular and accessible hikes. There is a $5 parking fee at the trail head on Lowell Point road. Although this trail sees the most traffic in the summer months, it is open year-round to hikers.
You'll meander down a well-maintained trail in our thick spruce forest, passing over two bridges along the way. This scenic hiking trail lets out on a black sand beach of Resurrection Bay, great for taking in views over a picnic. Keep an eye out in the late summer months, you might see salmon swimming up Tonsina Creek. Consider wearing a pair of light micro-spikes for traction if you wander down the trail in the winter.
